Lets Go Fly A Kite

We had great fun making kites. We were lucky to get a windy day so it made our kites easy to fly. They took off quickly. Up up and away ...............................

Brigit's Garden

Big day out for Junior Infants

We visited Brigit's Garden on the 15th of June. We were very excited!! We went on the bus on Tuesday morning. We learned lots in Brigit's Garden and played lots of exciting games. We all made stinky potions using all the herbs in the garden. Kay our guide gave us magic paper to colour and make a wish using the colours and then we put it on a magic wishing branch. The branch is now in our garden outside the classroom.

We really enjoyed working as scientists.

We went fishing for pond creatures. Then we studied and examined the creatures we caught in special dishes . We were very gentle with them and put them back when we had examined them. We really enjoyed this part!

We had a great day.

Sports Day

The final of the egg and spoon race.

The crawling race :-)

Relaxing in the sunshine and cheering on our class.

Junior Infants sports day took place on the 16th of June. It was a lovely day the sun was shinning and everyone was having great fun. We had lots of events, sprints, potatoe and spoon and the crawling race. There are lots of fantastic athletes in our class and we did very well winning lots of prizes. Everyone had great fun taking part and we all won an ice pop at the end of the day for taking part.

Our Garden

Colourful Garden
We now have our very own garden. We all helped plant our vegetables and flowers outside our classroom. We are growing peas, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, brussels sprouts, strawberries and peppers and some very colourful flowers.
We are all going to take turns looking after our new garden. We need to water the garden every day.

We are very proud of our garden!

Launching a water rocket!!!

We were all very excited to see what was going to happen. We watched closely because when the rocket took off it was very fast!!!

First we filled the bottle with one quarter water.

Then we pumped air into the bottle.
The air causes pressure to build up in the bottle. The more air we pumped in the greater the pressure inside the bottle.

We pumped and pumped until.........

The pressure inside the bottle was too much and the pressure pushed the pump out and rocket off the stand. We had LIFT OFF!!!

The rocket flew high into the sky and far away.

Everyone ran as fast as they could to see who would reach the rocket first. We had great fun launching the rocket.
